So, for multi-core use, the older one is better. For single core, the newer one. In either case, 16GB is a big jump - and not being able to as easily replace the hard drive even the previous one was a pain , is another factor. That's NONE.. And from recent experience Apple has taken to black listing Macs sold by 3rd party companies as used or refirb. We had a Mac Pro sold by Gainsaver, and Apple had black listed the serial number.

They flat refused to do any sort of paid repair on it, and one could assume that things like iMessage will NOT work in Yosemite with a black listed serial number either. Buyer beware. Apple claims they are protecting the integrity of the security inherent in things like Apple Pay with such measures. And once they write off a serial number block as surplus, it's like a salvage title on a vehicle.

The New Mac mini is Quickly Turning into a Disaster

Show 5 replies. Leaving us with what you get.. No way to build in 2 ssd's or update ssd's perhaps faster storage from apple at a premium price..

liefusesni.gq To illustrate my point , a also act on my own opinion.. I will not be upgrading this year.. If for sum reason i must or my wallet starts to scream at me hahha Than i'm considering going back to my roots.. And building a nice custom silent running rig.. I did a bit of research before I got my Mac mini and the late come with latest generation processors which give better performance than the previous so My i5 gave better results then i7. Haven't really tried to run lots of instruments at the same time but up until now it coped with everything I have thrown at it. Messages: 2, I currently use a Mac Mini.

I use an external thunderbolt drive for audio. The internal drive is not really fast enough to record audio. The Mac Mini does get hot when it is on.

However, it is more than enough for music production. If you use a lot of plugins, than you may have to ''freeze' or 'print' them to your audio tracks to free of your CPU. The latest Mac Mini can have a 3. Ive been checking the specs and the harddrives are only rpm and thats in most macs and imacs and thats unbelievable in this day and age.

Im looking at the mac minis and when ive speced it up with more ram or faster processor then its cheaper to goto scan and buy one which will kick its ass and have a tweaked i7 processor too. Ill ask my brother too see how cheap he can get a mac mini for but if its closer to my dream scan pc then ill wait until i get enough too buy one from scan. I love the fact that the Mac Mini is small and sits perfectly under my Apple Thunderbolt monitor. Yeah Mac mini i5 2. Only gripe is that osx Maschine 2. I don't use as plugins. That's just from my past engineering w.
